About the Opportunity
As the Area Manager of the Mining Services Division, and reporting to the General Manager, Canadian Mining Operations, you will chiefly be responsible for managing projects, ensuring that goals are met in accordance with established budgets and schedules.
More specifically, you will be required to:
- Ensure current and future contract operations are in compliance with regulations, including occupation health, safety and environment;
- Implement and ensure compliance to safety and training programs;
- Approve operating budgets for the preceding year;
- Develop and maintain business plans that ensure continued growth/sustainability of the client base;
- Inspect working areas, advising stakeholders of corrective measures;
- Assist the Engineering team in preparing estimates;
- Liaise with the client’s Project Management team to guarantee their satisfaction, or to take corrective actions;
- Directly manage small contracts with revenues below $3 million; and
- Hire staff members as required.
To qualify for this role, you will need a post secondary degree in Business or a related discipline, and you will bring 10-15 years of strong experience in the mining industry to the table.
Your extensive experience supervising and managing teams, coupled with your advanced communication skills are a key necessity to apply for this role, as you will be conversing with various stakeholders including crews at mining sites.
In this full time position, you may be required to work overtime hours as required. Also, the Area Manger will travel 35% of time to sites across Northern Ontario for site visits.
