Playgroup Australia is the peak body recognised as the leading voice for Playgroups in Australia and it is their vision that ALL Australians value the benefits of Playgroups to nurture young children, connect families and build communities through play.
The membership consists of the eight State and Territory Playgroup Associations across Australia who collectively represent more than 105,000 families and 145,000 children at 8,500 Playgroup sessions every week.
Playgroup Australia is dedicated to proactively generating awareness and building a greater understanding of the benefits of playgroup participation for all families with young children. The organisation advocates learning through play and the role of playgroups as a platform for community development.
National programs delivered through Playgroup Australia include PlayConnect, a playgroup program for children with autism and their families, and the Supported Playgroup Program.

About the Opportunity
Playgroup Australia currently has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Programs Manager to drive the success of their national programs.
In this key leadership position, you will be primarily responsible for the overall implementation, management and evaluation of programs being delivered through Playgroup Australia.
This includes contract management, implementation, quality assurance, and development of specific and specialised programs. You'll be expected to be proactive in recognising new business opportunities and funding sources, and working with the team to secure financial assistance to grow the organisation in line with the strategic plan.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, key responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to):
- Managing contracts for national programs, including management of sub-contracts with members, partner organisations and agencies, to ensure all objectives and outputs are achieved;
- Directing the development and implementation of national Playgroup programs;
- Professionally managing stakeholder expectations;
- Working in partnership with Members, Partners and Agencies to develop a strong research based reporting strategy;
- Identifying and developing new program opportunities; and
- Representing the organisation as required.

To succeed, you'll need tertiary qualifications and/or several years demonstrated experience in early childhood, disability services, family support, community development, social work or another area relevant to the position. Enthusiasm and a strong commitment to supporting families and building stronger communities will be key attributes that you bring to the role.
Playgroup Australia is looking for someone with the demonstrated ability to effectively manage large scale projects including budget, administration and risk management issues. You'll have proven skills in quality assurance and continuous improvement, with excellent analytical skills and the ability to produce meaningful reports.
Additionally, you'll possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team. The ability to network and maintain meaningful business relationships is crucial to this role. The initiative to explore potential IT solutions to project management challenges is also essential.
Demonstrated knowledge of Playgroup Australia and its national programs,and experience in collaborating across a wide geographic network will all be well regarded. A current driver's licence and a current Working with Children certification would be an advantage.
