About the Opportunity
Prolink Fabrication Ltd is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Estimator to join their team in Calgary, Alberta.
In this pivotal role you will evaluate Prolink Fabrication’s bid inquiries and determine whether or not the scope of supply is within Prolink’s expertise, compile accurate cost estimates, prepare formal written proposals and keep well organized quotation files.
More specifically, you will be required to:
- Prepare competitive estimates for upstream oil and gas facilities;
- Provide assistance to the Project Manager;
- Interface with contractors, and suppliers during pre and post-tender applications to develop effective business relationships;
- Develop bid package processes and communicates with sales to ensure the management and compliance of bid packages with established guidelines and processes;
- Liaise with production management to ensure accordance with standards and best practices;
- Provide direction to design staff on best practices for developing general arrangement, fabrication, as-built drawings, and project documents;
- Perform audits on drawings and documents to ensure adherence to best practices and quality assurance;
- Provide direction in the development of processes, standards, and best practices when determining estimates for project activities;
- Provide project management staff with assistance in determining design, labor, and material estimations, and implementing monitoring processes for project activities;
- Provide leadership with direction and support in addressing issues where design and estimations have deviated significantly from initial proposal / projection;
- Work closely with Business Development staff to determine customer needs and new products development;
- Work closely with staff and customers to ensure on time, on budget delivery of all necessary components and contract requirements;
- Review bid estimates; and
- Comply with standards and procedures of the Prolink health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' of experience in a fabrication shop environment coupled with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in an engineering discipline, or a two-year diploma in a technical discipline.
You will also be experienced in estimating management with a strong background in oil & gas processing equipment.
The ability to read, understand, and correct all fabrication drawings (P&ID, Layout, Vessel, Structural Steel, etc.) is essential, while experience in international bid tenders would be considered an asset.
Intermediate knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) is essential, as is a strong understanding of ASME and CSA Codes for pressure vessel and pressure piping skid packages.
