About the Opportunity
Sicom has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced MasterCam CNC Programmer to join their team in Houston, Texas.
This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual who aspires to take on a future leadership role in our Manufacturing Engineering Department.
In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your technical skills programming state-of-the-art CNC equipment in both the Canadian and US facilities.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Programming CNC Vertical Lathes with C Axis with Fanuc Controls;
- Programming CNC Long Bed Horizontal Lathes with C Axis with Fanuc Controls;
- Programming CNC Vertical Machining Centers with 4th Axis with Fanuc Controls;
- Programming CNC Horizontal Machining Centers with dual indexing pallets with Fanuc Controls;
- Programming CNC Horizontal Boring Mill with an indexing table with Fanuc Controls;
- Programming and understanding how to utilize Renishaw probes;
- Assisting CNC machinist on Shop Floor with setup and prove out of new CNC Programs and optimization of existing CNC Programs;
- Manufacturing Process Planning including, fixture design and tooling configuration;
- Preparing project close-out documents and maintaining project filing;
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and standards; and
- Coordinating work with other departments and disciplines.
Previous experience in machining and CNC programming is essential, as is knowledge of MasterCam. The successful candidate must also have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude is crucial for success in this role, as is proficiency with drafting, 3D modeling and computational analysis. You must also have working knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards.
In order to be considered, you will need a comprehensive understanding of machining nickel-based materials such as super duplex, 625 inconel, stainless steels of all types, and 4130. Knowledge of cutting feeds and speeds for all types of cutting tools related to these materials is also crucial.
It is critical that you are proficient in using Microsoft Windows in a PC environment.
It would be considered a strong asset if you have knowledge of Solidworks. Since you will have the opportunity to advance in this role, previous leadership experience would also be considered an asset.
