About the Opportunity

Stark International is currently seeking an experienced, full-time Field Service Manager to join our expanding team.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with extensive knowledge of transformers and/or high voltage equipment, and who also demonstrates strong business acumen.   

Based in Red Deer, Alberta, and regularly traveling to client sites throughout Alberta and Western Canada, the Field Service Manager is responsible for managing the on-site operation of projects, including the delivery of efficient and cost effective work that is safe for site personnel and sub-contractors. 

As a primary point of contact for our clients, it is imperative that the Field Service Manager also demonstrates strong customer-service orientation and possesses superior communication and interpersonal skills. 

Primary accountabilities of this role include: 

  • Assist the Project Manager in organizing the job site prior to the job starting
  • Manage onsite activities and ensure that project dates and the scheduled completion date is met
  • Manage a team of up to ten employees and subcontractors, including working hours, development and disciplinary action 
  • Ensure all work performed on transformers is of the highest quality
  • Competently run and monitor oil processing equipment
  • Manage and monitor inventory and maintenance of equipment, including repair
  • Manage projects to planned budget
  • Communicate with clients regarding difficult problems and expedite solutions/resolutions
  • Maintain accurate records and submit all reports on time
  • Increase and sustain team moral and report any issues to management
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Follow best practice process and procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and OSHAS 18001 standards
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics
  • Represent Stark International in a positive and professional manner

Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong mechanical or electrical aptitude and have at least five years of experience working with transformers or high voltage electrical equipment. Similarly, at least two years' experience in a supervisory capacity is ideal, as is a relevant post-secondary education. 

Possession of any of the following is advantageous: 

  • Fall Arrest
  • Confined Space
  • WHIMIS
  • First Aid
  • Class 1 License
  • TDG
  • Class IV Crane (Picker Truck)

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills. Specifically, we are seeking experienced candidates who are extremely detailed oriented and who are motivated to build a cohesive team. 

As a responsible and accountable individual, you will demonstrate superior customer service skills and always aspire to leave a lasting and positive impression on our clients and project managers. Computer literacy is essential, as is the ability and willingness to master new technologies. 

Finally, the successful candidate must be financially savvy and capable of managing budgets and reconciling company credit cards. 

Due to the nature of this field-based role, a valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle is required. Similarly, candidates are required to complete a criminal records check and have the flexibility to travel to the United States, when required.
