About the Opportunities
Due to growth, Samco is currently in need of full time Tool and Die Makers, and Tool Room Machinists in Toronto, ON for both day and night shifts.
Please note that we are also hiring CNC Lathe Operators and CNC Boring Mill Operators. If you would like to apply for those positions, please indicate this when submitting your application.
Tool and Die Maker:
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Building new punch and cutoff dies;
- Servicing, maintaining, and improving existing dies;
- Making replacement components for dies;
- Trouble shooting dies in presses; and
- Installing and testing dies on new machines.
To apply, you must have the following qualifications:
- Approved Certification of Qualification in Tool and Die;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a stamping environment;
- Working knowledge of progressive and transfer dies;
- Analytical problem solving skills; and
- The ability to run wire EDM machines, surface grinders and manual milling machines.
Tool Room Machinists:
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Read and follow part manufacturing drawings;
- Use precision measuring tolls to ensure parts conform to specifications on drawings;
- Inspect dimensions to ensure part is machined within tolerances specified in drawing; and
- Ensuring parts are free of burrs, shavings, sharp edges, and are properly identified.
To apply, you must have the following qualifications:
- General Machinist Certificate, some technical training as a Machinist, or equivalent experience;
- At least 3 years as a general machinist using similar equipment;
- Analytical problem solving skills;
- The ability to run a surface grinder and manual milling machine; and
- The ability to run wire EDM machines will be considered an asset, but not mandatory.
