About your next role with The City of Whitehorse...

Currently, The City of Whitehorse has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst III to join their team on a full-time basis.

As the Financial Analyst III, you will be responsible for coordinating the yearly budget process and ensuring the accuracy of budgets including fees & charges.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing and preparing complex calculations for the operating and capital budget.
  • Compiling operating and capital budget data submitted by departments and resolving data discrepancies.
  • Preparing, recording, and ensuring the accuracy of budget amendments throughout the year.
  • Coordinating fees & charges bylaw process and ensuring compliance.
  • Performing internal audits and reconciliations including bank reconciliations and year-end.
  • Overseeing funding agreements including ensuring compliance with the terms of the agreements from the finance perspective.
  • Preparing relevant bylaws including operating and capital budget and tax.
  • Following, so far as reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
  • Acting as Financial Reporting Supervisor as assigned.

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Degree and Level 4 in an Accounting Designation program recognised in Canada along with being actively enrolled in an Advanced Studies Level in the Accounting Designation program. You will also have 4 years previous progressive accounting experience including at least 1 year in a government/municipal setting. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

It is imperative that you have the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and be comfortable using financial software, microsoft office, and banking software.
