About the Opportunity 

Currently, Calgary Seniors' Resource Society is seeking Outreach Workers to join their team in Calgary, Alberta.

Reporting to the Outreach Team Lead, the Outreach Workers will provide outreach services to older adults living primarily in the North East and upper South East Calgary communities. The Outreach Workers will be working closely with older adults and their families to provide culturally sensitive practice to address the varying and diverse needs of the community. While this role will be based out of an office, at least 50% of the Outreach Workers time will be spent out in the community.

More specifically the responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Providing outreach social work to older adults in communities from the northeast to the southeast of Calgary.
  • Completing an assessment of needs for the individual in question before creating and implementing the goals of the assessment. 
  • Providing information and advocacy including referrals to other community services.
  • Evaluating and reporting on client outcomes.
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with community agencies and cultural groups. 
  • Working with ethnic communities in partnership with trained community connectors and interpreters. 
  • Working collaboratively with all "The Way In Network" teams.
  • Participating in organizational planning and development activities.

To qualify for this role, candidates will have a post-secondary education in Social Work and either a current registration or current eligibility to register with the Alberta College of Social Workers. Applicants with a Bachelor's or Master’s degree are preferred, though applicants with a diploma combined with relevant experience will be considered. An active driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is also required.

Our ideal candidate will have some experience in case management combined with a passion for working with older adults. You will also possess excellent communication skills, the capability of comfortably working both as part of a team and with minimal supervision, and a proven track record of going beyond the call of duty in your passion for working with older adults. 

Individuals with strong critical thinking and decision making skills will excel in this role, as will individuals with strong cultural sensitivity and an awareness of the broad diversity of the community.
